Tudi pri nas že preveden, znan in referenčen zgodovinar/medieivalist Jaques Le Goff je monografsko raziskavo Nastanek vic objavil leta 1981, ko je svoj znanstveni interes preusmeril od velikih tem k posamičnim in ožjim vprašanjem, kakršna so na primer verovanja ali struktura vic. Takšno raziskovanje terja veliko metodološke inovativnosti in historiografske eruditskosti; oboje vsebuje Nastanek vic: “vice (so) po13 – stoletju spremenile odnos kristjanov do zadnjih trenutkov življenja : dramatizirale so zadnjo stopnjo tuzemskega obstoja , tako da so jo napolnile s silovito mešanico strahu in upanja. Ključno dejanje, izbira med peklom in rajem – kajti vice so rajska predsoba -, se je lahko zgodilo v zadnji minuti. Poslednji trenutki so bili trenutki poslednje možnost.” (Iz knjige)
