Durkheima, M. Maussa in M. Blocha, na Cl. Lévi-Straussa pa je Radcliffe-Brown celo bolj vplival kot B. Malinowski, ki velja za soočeta moderne socialne antropologije, le da se je Radcliffe-Brown odmejil od funkcionalizma in celo enakovredno vpeljal in obdelal koncepte strukture, funkcije in procesa, zlasti kot obrobnega procesa družbe in kulture in ne kot entitete. Radcliffe-Brownov epistemološki prispevek je v primerjavi s holističnim večji in bistveno bolj razvit.
