Nova urbana meja: gentrifikacija in revanšistično mesto Neila Smitha je eno prvih in temeljnih monografskih knjižnih del na področju družbeno-kritične refleksije in teorije gentrifikacije – oblike, metode in strategije urbanega prestrukturiranja –, ki se od njenega izida dalje »ne le neprenehno prodaja, temveč »se je s to mejo tudi dejansko spopadala«. V njem je Smith zbral, strnil in za potrebe knjižne izdaje priredil, posodobil, dopolnil in nadgradil razprave, s katerimi se je, izhajajoč iz zastavljanja vprašanj o strukturnih politično-ekonomskih vzrokih, soočal z vsakokrat konjunkturnimi topikami postopoma vse bolj intenzivnih, razširjajočih in diverzificirajočih se procesov gentrifikacije in jih je spotoma objavljal od konca 70. do sredine 90. let prejšnjega stoletja.
